Brynaber is a traditional Welsh millworker's cottage in the village of Aberbanc, situated in the lovely Cardiganshire countryside close to the Teifi Valley. The village is set back from the A475 between Newcastle Emlyn and Penrhiwllan, and is only eight miles from Llangrannog on the Cardigan Bay coast.
Accommodation: Brynaber is a quaint little cottage set on the hillside with a good-sized garden. It has been completely refurbished, yet still contains many original features. The cottage is heated by night storage radiators and the cost of electricity is included in the rental charges.
The sitting room has an antique Chattan open fire range with a working oven, and original quarry-tiled floor. An initial supply of fuel is provided for the fire. There is TV with satellite freeview and a DVD player. The shower room with washbasin and lavatory is downstairs, off the living room.
The brand new kitchen is fully equipped, with a built-in washing machine and fridge, full-size electric cooker & hob top, microwave and toaster.
The dining table seats four and overlooks the garden. The garden has a steep slope, but there is a flat patio area with garden furniture and barbecue.
Upstairs there are two small bedrooms, one with a four-foot bed and the other with a single bed. At the top of the stairs is storage to hang clothes, and there is cupboard space in the bedrooms.
Access: There is off-road parking in the drive for two cars, and level access to the property from the driveway. The shower room is not adapted for disabled use. The original stairs are narrow and steep, unsuitable for persons with walking difficulties.
Nearby: The picturesque market town of Newcastle Emlyn with its many pubs and restaurants is three miles away. There is a good gastro-pub in the village of Penrhiwllan, within walking distance at less than a mile towards Horeb. The River Teifi is also less than a mile from the cottage and has excellent salmon and trout fishing – daily and weekly permits are available.
Further down the Teifi towards Cardigan is Cenarth with its lovely waterfalls and coracle museum, and up the Teifi in Llandysul is a white-water canoeing centre. There is information in the cottage on the various activities happening in the area.
There are many beaches on the nearby Cardigan Bay coast including Llangrannog, Cwmtydu, Penbryn, Tresaith, Mwnt and New Quay, just a short drive away and linked by the coastal footpath. To the south is the Preseli mountain range with its prehistoric sites and famous blue stones.
Pets: Quiet dogs with well behaved owners are welcome. Shovel and hoover provided, bring your own basket. Please refrain from smoking in the Cottage.
